E-BIKE In the Heart of the Island
North and South compared
Description of the route
We'll ascend an ancient military road immersed in a forest of holm oaks, rockroses, and mastic trees, following a stretch of the famous GTE (Great Elba Crossing) along the island's "ridge." Along the way, there will be plenty of historical attractions, such as an ancient windmill and an old furnace. As we approach the summit, we'll begin to glimpse breathtaking views of both the southern and northern coasts of the island. Our descent into the sunny valley will take us to a verdant promontory overlooking the sea, with a marvelous view of the other islands of the archipelago. This is a true natural terrace filled with the typical scents of the Mediterranean scrub and full of paths and trails for all tastes. Here, you'll surely be tempted by one of the pristine coves below for a refreshing swim and a hearty snack! After leaving the promontory, we'll continue climbing towards the southwestern part of the island, which offers a wide view of the Gulf of Marina di Campo and Corsica, before descending back down the valley towards the starting point.
